How to Create a Better Future for Feminism

A lot has happened in the fight for gender equality since International Women’s Day in March 2020. What is most important coming into this moment is acknowledging the past, knowing that we can’t progress as a society without the past, and knowing that the past is already present and may become actionable to future generations

As we begin to look to the future, then, we want to make sure that we are doing it the right way. Some many individuals and organizations want to improve the state of women’s rights around the globe, but they all have one thing in common; they all want to rewrite the narrative. As a society, we need to decide what kind of progress we are willing to grant to women, in regards to issues ranging from reproductive rights to workplace equality to sexual assault awareness and prevention

When women’s rights were given a push in the Middle East during the Arab Spring, a parallel movement for gender equality arose in other parts of the world, such as in Bolivia, Colombia, and Turkey. Those countries, which did not allow women to wear the full-face veil known as a Burka or Niqab during the ancient times, now have distinct programs in place to make Burka available to women without fear of discrimination. The education system in Some countries makes full allowance for girls to learn English and pursue careers after graduation.
