Feminism Symbol

~n~~WOMANDecoding the feminist messageTrudging through an unfriendly man’s social media feed can do that to a woman. It’s one of the many things that women do when we’re bullied, threatened, or made to feel uncomfortable by people we’re just talking toThere are a bunch of feminist phrases and words that we automatically say to each other when we’re being supportive or interested in knowing what’s going on in the world beyond our own bubbles

And where do those words come from?”Mrs.” is one. “Period” is another. And if you think that’s the end of the line, you have to read up on the history of “Mrs.”Not only is “Mrs.” a household word (along with “Miss”), but according to Merriam Webster and Oxford Dictionaries, the word is also used as an adjective in a sentence. That means that if you are using it as a verb, you can be sure that you’re talking about a woman (or man) in the household

Many of us recognize “Mrs.” as being a woman we have met before, but do we know the history of the word? Or do we assume that because it’s a female word, it must be a minor role?Is it because a woman’s role is one of nurturing? That’s why many women are surprised when they are called “Mrs.”Sometimes I feel that women are made to feel that they are only allowed to do one thing — be a momI’m not the only one. This has always struck me as a strange dichotomy.
